Note
Motor Neurone Disease, also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), is a thief of movement. This insidious disease affects the nerve cells that control muscle movement, leading to weakness, wasting, and eventually complete paralysis. It is a disease that steals away a person’s independence, leaving them unable to move, speak, or even breathe on their own.
While there is currently no cure for MND, there is hope. Researchers are working tirelessly to find a cure, and in the meantime, there are treatments and therapies available to help manage the symptoms of the disease and improve quality of life. One of the most important steps in tackling MND is getting an accurate diagnosis. Early detection can help with the development of a treatment plan, as well as provide patients and their families with a better understanding of the disease and what to expect.
