Stainless steel flange 316L is a standard molybdenum-containing grade, second only to 304 among austenitic stainless steels. Molybdenum gives 316 better overall corrosion resistance properties than grade 304, especially resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. Excellent formability and weldability. Easily molded into a variety of parts for industrial, architectural, and transportation applications. Grade 316 also has excellent welding properties. When welding thin sections, post-weld annealing is not required.
