VVT solenoid controls the left and right movement of the slide valve according to the duty cycle signal provided by the engine ECU, so as to control the direction of the oil passage to the camshaft. If the outflow direction of engine oil is the same as the rotation direction of the camshaft timing gear, the valve opening time is advanced. If not, the time of valve opening is delayed.
