Clarifiers are sedimentation tanks equipped with mechanical devices for continually removing accumulated materials. Solid particles or suspended solids are often removed from a liquid using a clarifier in order to clarify and/or thicken it. Clarifiers are required whenever there is a higher concentration of suspended materials in raw or waste water. Almost all treatment plants (Clarifiers) use circular sedimentation tanks, though occasionally rectangular ones are used instead.
