Summary:
Czech University is looking for partners and a coordinator among SMEs, universities and research organizations for the H2020 - SFS-10-2017 call- Point-of-Care devices for rapid detection of bacteria and viruses (pathogens treatment). The aim of this project proposal is to provide an ultra-fast and accurate molecular diagnostic Lab-on-chip instrument for detection of bacteria or viruses, e.g. S. aureus, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).
Description:
Concept of the project: An urgent need for fast and accurate diagnostic tests has been clearly identified for the case of the future outbreaks of emerging diseases in plants or terrestrial animals. The rapid and accurate diagnosis of diseases during early stage of infection is a decisive step for risk assessment. Nowadays, bioanalytical and molecularly-biological instruments are able to provide accurate results; however, these instruments cannot be easily transported and used in the field tests. The gold standard for accurate diagnostics, (Real-Time) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is also limited in terms of processing time, high costs, and in most cases also in terms of ease of use and the need of special laboratory facilities. The aim of this project proposal is to provide an ultra-fast and accurate molecular diagnostic Lab-on-chip instrument for detection of bacteria or viruses, e.g. S. aureus, SARS, MERS.
